YD's Diary #9 Read your organization's ESG report(Sustainable Report)

 


Recently, for the ESG assignment in my HY-MBA midterm exam, I had the opportunity to read my company's Sustainability Report multiple times. I would like to share the various insights I gained during this process.

• Understanding HR Policies
; I gained a clear understanding of the purposes and necessities of HR programs, and I can now confidently explain these reasons to my juniors.

• Awareness of Social Contribution Activities
; By comprehensively understanding the social contribution activities I had only encountered sporadically in my busy work life, I became clearer about the values the company pursues.

• Clarifying Organizational Structure and Vision
; I was able to clearly grasp the purpose of the organization, which is often difficult to understand just from its name, through the Sustainability Report.

• Insights into Major Business and Strategy
; By understanding the current sales, profits, and future direction of the company, my confidence in its vision and strategy has increased.

• Understanding Activities of Other Departments
; I gained insights into the various activities of departments outside of my own, broadening my understanding of the overall operations of the company.

• Understanding Company Efforts for Employees
; I learned about the efforts the company makes for its employees, which can help colleagues who have complaints understand the company’s initiatives.

• Understanding Company Size and Distribution
; My overall understanding of the company’s structure has improved.

• Recognizing the Company’s Positive Aspects
; Initially, when I encountered the report after ten years, I had a negative perspective due to the discomfort with new things, but after twenty years, seeing the ESG-inclusive report highlighted the company’s positive attributes.

Although I was compelled to read this report for the midterm exam, it turned out to be an opportunity to learn and reflect significantly. If you have the chance, I highly recommend reading your organization’s ESG Report (Sustainable Report). I am confident that this experience will also be greatly beneficial to you.

YD's Diary #10 Wrapping up the MBA year (Hanyang ESG Professional)

This year, I feel like I have grown significantly. Although work has always been a series of challenges, through the MBA, I have learned many new words and concepts. In the past, I only knew the meaning of the  word "Green fund," but now I understand the significance of the Green fund, market investment, and its weight, which makes me feel satisfied and happy.
