YD's Diary #8 Equivalent Value of Life and Policy in ESG

Image
When a person dies in an unexpected accident, we feel deep sorrow and commemorate them. Reflect on the emotions and mindset we have at that moment, and the value of life that we feel in that sorrow. Or think about the moment when a life was dramatically saved. How precious and valuable does that one life feel at that moment?  Conversely, consider the lives that could not be born due to various circumstances, but could be born into our everyday lives due to policy changes. I suddenly thought that their preciousness might be similar. To explain in more detail, in the past, lives that would have naturally been born are now missing the opportunity to be born due to various social circumstances, such as delaying marriage and childbirth. I thought that if we could save one of the next generations on this borderline through policy, wouldn't that be as valuable as saving a life that was barely saved after going through hardship and crisis, or saving someone who unfortunately lost their lif...

YD's Diary #7 Dear AI, You are most welcome.

Dear AI, You are most welcome.  Subtitle : Computer-Internet-SmartPhone and next is AI With the advent of ChatGPT, AI has entered my life. Just like me, my surroundings, and the academic world, there are various evaluations and predictions about AI. “Is AI so great that it will change our lives that much?” When I hear feedback about AI from school or around me, I want to give a positive evaluation. In conclusion, I think AI will bring changes to our lives as significant as, or even greater than, computers, the internet, and smartphones. AI refers to the advent of computers, the Internet, and smartphones, and I think we should predict their results by asking questions similar to the following. How much has our productivity changed since computers were introduced into our lives? How many new products have emerged since the internet was introduced into our lives?         Bill Gates Explains the Internet to Dave (1995) | Letterman - YouTube      ...

YD's Diary #6 Citylization

South Korea is currently in a very good state. The public safety, healthcare, medical facilities, infrastructure, landscaping, food, and people are all excellent. However, the severe population decline could lead to unpredictable and unfavorable outcomes. A decrease in population inevitably means a reduction in total production, and the resulting social contraction is unavoidable. While the direct cause of this issue is population decline, I believe that accepting solutions from outside is not a fundamental solution. Looking at past European cases and considering the future, it is hard to agree that it is a good policy. The changes that have occurred over the past decade are constants that cannot be changed and are unavoidable. I hope that society will once again see an increase in population. After discussing with colleagues, we concluded that the most realistic prediction for South Korea’s future is that only major cities will survive and become more concentrated. Urban civilization!...

YD's Diary #5 in HY-ESG MBA, Important Talent for ESG team member.

What is the Important Talent for ESG team member? ‘Social Savvy(Mega-Insider)’ ‘Willing for Understanding Business’ ‘Digital Transformation Skills’ ‘SNS Skills’  In the Human Resources Organizational Environment and Structure class, I am asked what individual capabilities are suitable for the ESG team, and I leave my thoughts. Recently, as ESG departments have been established in many corporate organizations, it appears that there are many difficulties in integrating them within the company. As mentioned in the previous article, there seems to be a situation where there is a strong backlash against ESG within the company, just as it is happening in society, as the company's core purpose and ESG philosophy clash.  Here are the skills I think ESG team members should have:  1. Social Savvy (Mega-Insider): This skill is very important as ESG coordinator will have to liaise with various departments and perform tasks related to non-financial performance. Specially, this skill w...

YD's Diary #4 in HY-MBA, The First Step Effect

The First Step Effect "So, depending on who the boss is and how they learn to work at first, it seems that their lifelong work habits are formed." The lifelong attitude of employees can be determined by the organizational atmosphere they learn from when they are new employees. In other words, the first department placement of a new employee is very important. HR managers, executives, or team leaders might be wondering how to create good employees. Based on what I felt from working in a company for about 19 years, my personal assumptions to become an employee with a good work attitude are as follows. [Assumption 1] I believe that there are three types of new employees. Based on the characteristics set before joining the company, they are divided into innate good, innate evil, and innate neutral. The ratio is 15% for innate good, 1~5% for innate evil, and the rest, 80%, are mostly innate neutral. Innate good will maintain their integrity in their work, even if they meet bad co...

Let's have a TEA~ (My Personal Service Brand since 2015)

My Personal Service Mark, " Let's have a TEA~ " since 2015 Having worked in a project team, I had the opportunity to transition to a company-wide risk management team in 2015, where I was able to philosophically reflect on the nature of support organization tasks. At that time, I had a lot of contemplation(question) about how to bring benefits to the company while performing support team tasks, but now I fully recognize its value anyway. While there is much to discuss, in conclusion, the most important philosophical concern during my year of work was how to communicate between the project and the management to produce better results. At that time, I established my own philosophy as follows, and now, after 10 years, I am proud to introduce it. It now feels like my own Personal Service Mark or brand. “Let’s have a TEA~” means the following: When doing project management or risk management reporting tasks, I, who likes to drink tea, made this to remind myself to check whethe...

YD's Diary #3 in HY-MBA, Reflections on the Criticism of ESG Management

Reflections on the Criticism of ESG Management  (Subtitle: A Tribute to Larry Fink) As I study the world of ESG management, I frequently encounter negative news and opinions about ESG. The topics of environment, society, and governance encompass social, political issues, and traditional confrontational structures, which humanity is still struggling to find solutions for. This complexity often leads to harsh criticism or even outright rejection when a minor flaw is found, especially in the face of misguided political beliefs or the recent trend of political correctness in the United States. The term ESG first appeared in the UN in the early 2000s, but it was first introduced to my life when Larry Fink’s letter made the news. At that time, I too casually dismissed it, thinking it was a bit premature. However, as the terms related to ESG began to appear in society and the meaning was sought, it seems that various places are having a debate. Returning to the title, the reason why ESG m...
