YD's Diary #13 New fairies ( Losta and Twisty )

Image
I used to think that all fairies in the world were already set and that no more could be added, but after watching Disney’s Jack Frost, I realized that new ones could still be introduced. Then today, while looking for my eyeglass cleaning cloth, I thought of a character that could be added or recommended. Before I forget, I’m writing it down here.  Every time I buy glasses, I always receive an extra cleaning cloth. When I lose one, I just go and get another, and recently, I even ordered a pack of five. But where do all these cleaning cloths keep disappearing? There must be a fairy that hides my belongings! Also there’s always a fairy that tangles my earphone cords whenever I put them in my pocket or bag. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Disney, Please add  "New fairies" Name:  Losta or Sneakle A small fairy that hides small objects like eyeglass cleaning cloths. Name:  Twisty or Wiry Wisp A tin...

YD's Diary #12 A Brief Comparison of What I Do(My Project Management by F1 racing)

Image
My job in plant design projects isn’t very common, so it’s hard to explain. I’ve always thought about how to explain it, and comparing it to F1 car racing seemed like a good idea.Understanding other fields often helps in my own work.  I started with managing EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects for chemical plants, from before contracts to plant completion, handling contract matters, and receiving the project final bonds. I then worked on proposals and FEED (FEL3) tasks, and later prepared for FEL1 and FEL2 tasks. I’ve done for FEL1 work and served as a small Study Manager. Therefore, I think I have broad experience in plant design project management and am very satisfied with it.  In keywords, it’s FEL1 (Feasibility Study), FEL2 (Pre-FEED), FEL3 (FEED), Proposal, and Execution. This diary is the overall story of a project's beginning to end.  To explain, let’s use the famous F1 racing game with Michael Schumacher.  - Execution in EPC is like Mic...

YD's Diary #11 Leader's Warmth and Competence to make a better performance

Image
The thing that stood out the most and made me think a lot in 2024 was this graph. (Source : https://images.app.goo.gl/rB5eQHiYFbqtKbfs9) The idea that a leader's warmth and competence can cause employees to perceive their work as a challenge/threat and engagement/withdrawal. (I focused that no-warmth or cold can give a threat and make a withdrawal) - Warmth: How friendly, kind, trustworthy, and empathetic someone is - Competence: How intelligent, skilled, and powerful In project management, improving team performance through employees' voluntary participation is a crucial factor. With so many reference materials and a constantly changing world, achieving the best outcomes today and tomorrow with plans, procedures, and decisions is always challenging. While striving to ensure today's outcomes are the best possible, reflecting on past best practices often reveals new choices that are found still. This may be because predicting the future is inherently challenging, but it stil...

YD's Diary #10 Wrapping up the MBA year (Hanyang ESG Professional)

Image
This year, I feel like I have grown significantly. Although work has always been a series of challenges, through the MBA, I have learned many new words and concepts. In the past, I only knew the meaning of the  word "Green fund," but now I understand the significance of the Green fund, market investment, and its weight, which makes me feel satisfied and happy. Choosing to specialize in ESG was a really good decision.  Below, I have organized the key sentences and terms learned and discussed during the second semester. These has been giving me the many inspiration. Thanks to this, I am looking forward to 2025. Do not let emotions become actions. Prepare my own epic. Establish my own philosophy in ESG The 10,000-hour rule. CFE (Carbon Free Energy) vs RE100 Social Value Management & Social Entrepreneurship VOC → VOS (Voices of Stakeholders) HR → Employee Success / People Operation Vision, Mission, Core Value, Goal Fairness, Equality, Equity DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclus...

YD's Diary #9 Read your organization's ESG report(Sustainable Report)

Image
Recently, for the ESG assignment in my HY-MBA midterm exam, I had the opportunity to read my company's Sustainability Report multiple times. I would like to share the various insights I gained during this process. • Understanding HR Policies ; I gained a clear understanding of the purposes and necessities of HR programs, and I can now confidently explain these reasons to my juniors. • Awareness of Social Contribution Activities ; By comprehensively understanding the social contribution activities I had only encountered sporadically in my busy work life, I became clearer about the values the company pursues. • Clarifying Organizational Structure and Vision ; I was able to clearly grasp the purpose of the organization, which is often difficult to understand just from its name, through the Sustainability Report. • Insights into Major Business and Strategy ; By understanding the current sales, profits, and future direction of the company, my confidence in its vision and strategy has ...

YD's Diary #8 Equivalent Value of Life and Policy in ESG

Image
When a person dies in an unexpected accident, we feel deep sorrow and commemorate them. Reflect on the emotions and mindset we have at that moment, and the value of life that we feel in that sorrow. Or think about the moment when a life was dramatically saved. How precious and valuable does that one life feel at that moment?  Conversely, consider the lives that could not be born due to various circumstances, but could be born into our everyday lives due to policy changes. I suddenly thought that their preciousness might be similar. To explain in more detail, in the past, lives that would have naturally been born are now missing the opportunity to be born due to various social circumstances, such as delaying marriage and childbirth. I thought that if we could save one of the next generations on this borderline through policy, wouldn't that be as valuable as saving a life that was barely saved after going through hardship and crisis, or saving someone who unfortunately lost their lif...

YD's Diary #7 Dear AI, You are most welcome.

Dear AI, You are most welcome.  Subtitle : Computer-Internet-SmartPhone and next is AI With the advent of ChatGPT, AI has entered my life. Just like me, my surroundings, and the academic world, there are various evaluations and predictions about AI. “Is AI so great that it will change our lives that much?” When I hear feedback about AI from school or around me, I want to give a positive evaluation. In conclusion, I think AI will bring changes to our lives as significant as, or even greater than, computers, the internet, and smartphones. AI refers to the advent of computers, the Internet, and smartphones, and I think we should predict their results by asking questions similar to the following. How much has our productivity changed since computers were introduced into our lives? How many new products have emerged since the internet was introduced into our lives?         Bill Gates Explains the Internet to Dave (1995) | Letterman - YouTube      ...
